Six‐ and seven‐membered benzo‐fused cyclic homoallylic alcohols can be readily synthesized by a tandem chiral Brønsted acid‐catalyzed allyl (crotyl)boration/ring closing metathesis sequence performed under orthogonal relay catalysis conditions. Excellent enantio‐ and diastereoselectivities are obtained in most of the cases. In addition, the parent crotylboration/RCM process is also described. The required substrates, ortho‐vinylbenzaldehydes, are readily available in one step from commercially available starting materials. Both catalysts and reactants are also available from commercial suppliers. The reaction shows broad functional group compatibility and is also suitable for heteroaromatic substrates. Substitution at any position of the aromatic ring is tolerated; however, substitution at position 6 results in a substantial drop in enantioselectivity. 相似文献

The outline for theoretically unified psychology is offered. A new epistemological system is used to provide a unique vantage point to examine how psychological science exists in relationship to the other sciences. This new view suggests that psychology can be thought of as existing between the central insights of B. F. Skinner and Sigmund Freud. Specifically, Skinner's fundamental insight is merged with cognitive neuroscience to understand how mind emerges out of life. This conception is then joined with Freud's fundamental insight to understand the evolutionary changes in mind that gave rise to human culture. By linking life to mind from the bottom and mind to culture from the top, psychology is effectively boxed in between biology and the social sciences. Extracellular ATP (eATP) has long been established in animals as an important signalling molecule but this is less understood in plants. The identification of Arabidopsis thaliana DORN1 (Does Not Respond to Nucleotides) as the first plant eATP receptor has shown that it is fundamental to the elevation of cytosolic free Ca2+ ([Ca2+]cyt) as a possible second messenger. eATP causes other downstream responses such as increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS) and nitric oxide, plus changes in gene expression. The plasma membrane Ca2+ influx channels involved in eATP-induced [Ca2+]cyt increase remain unknown at the genetic level. Arabidopsis thaliana Annexin 1 has been found to mediate ROS-activated Ca2+ influx in root epidermis, consistent with its operating as a transport pathway. In this study, the loss of function Annexin 1 mutant was found to have impaired [Ca2+]cyt elevation in roots in response to eATP or eADP. Additionally, this annexin was implicated in modulating eATP-induced intracellular ROS accumulation in roots as well as expression of eATP-responsive genes. 相似文献

A polymer of intrinsic porosity (i.e., PIM‐1) has been blended with different ionic liquids (ILs) in order to evaluate the effect of the ILs on the microstructure of the polymer blend. [C8MIM][Cl], [BMIM][DCa], [BMPyr][DCa], and [BMIM][Tf2N] have been selected and were mixed with PIM‐1. Polymer blends containing up to 80 wt % of ILs were prepared by a casting method with chloroform as solvent. SEM images show that during the film formation a structuring of the surface appears depending on the nature and the concentration of ILs, with appearance of well‐defined microstructure in the case of [BMIM][Tf2N] and [BMIM][DCa]. In the case of [BMIM][Tf2N]/PIM‐1 film, the lower IL concentration induces the denser film with small micropatterns onto the surface. AFM analysis indicates that the ILs are well dispersed on the surface. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and water contact angle measurements show that a gradient of IL concentration is observed across the film thickness. To investigate species-specific decomposition rates of litter from native (Quercus faginea) and introduced (Eucalyptus globulus) tree species in Portugal, we monitored changes in the phenolic signature of leaf litter during decomposition as mediated by an aquatic, Proasellus coxalis (Isopoda: Asellota), and two terrestrial, Porcellio dispar and Eluma caelatum (Isopoda: Oniscidea), detritivores. Although the litter of Eucalyptus and Quercus did not differ in overall protein precipitation capacity, we detected differences in terms of contents of particular phenolic compounds and phenol oxidation products. Accordingly, we observed food-specific consumption rates in Proasellus, but not in the terrestrial isopods. Proasellus digested Eucalyptus at significantly higher rates than Quercus, whereas the opposite was the case for Eluma, and Porcellio digested both litter types equally well. Despite slight differences in detail, effects of Proasellus on changes in the signature of litter phenolics were similar for both litter types, whereas terrestrial isopods—Porcellio and Eluma, although they differed from each other—digestively degraded phenolic compounds in Eucalyptus and Quercus litter, respectively, in different ways. Overall, however, degradation of litter phenolics was similarly effective on both litter types. From these data, we conclude that decomposition of Eucalyptus litter does not proceed more slowly than of litter from native Portuguese trees. 相似文献

Transient receptor potential ankyrin member 1 (TRPA1) belongs to the family of thermo TRP cation channels that detect harmful temperatures, acids and numerous chemical pollutants. TRPA1 is expressed in nervous tissue, where it participates in the genesis of nociceptive signals in response to noxious stimuli and mediates mechanical hyperalgesia and allodynia associated with different neuropathies. The glutamate N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor (NMDAR), which plays a relevant role in allodynia to mechanical stimuli, is connected via histidine triad nucleotide-binding protein 1 (HINT1) and type 1 sigma receptor (σ1R) to mu-opioid receptors (MORs), which mediate the most potent pain relief. Notably, neuropathic pain causes a reduction in MOR antinociceptive efficacy, which can be reversed by blocking spinal NMDARs and TRPA1 channels. Thus, we studied whether TRPA1 channels form complexes with MORs and NMDARs that may be implicated in the aforementioned nociceptive signals. Our data suggest that TRPA1 channels functionally associate with MORs, delta opioid receptors and NMDARs in the dorsal root ganglia, the spinal cord and brain areas. These associations were altered in response to pharmacological interventions and the induction of inflammatory and also neuropathic pain. The MOR-TRPA1 and NMDAR-TRPA1 associations do not require HINT1 or σ1R but appear to be mediated by calcium-activated calmodulin. Thus, TRPA1 channels may associate with NMDARs to promote ascending acute and chronic pain signals and to control MOR antinociception. 相似文献

There are two most widely reported mechanisms to study the effect of magnetic fields on calcium carbonate (CaCO3) precipitate, namely ionic and particle mechanisms. The effects are most debatable because they are contrary to each other.
This study explored the effects of both mechanisms in CaCO3 deposit and total CaCO3 precipitation using ionic and particle methods. The ionic method showed reductions in CaCO3 deposit and total precipitation rate of CaCO3, whereas the particle method showed the opposite results. The particle number decreased and the average particle diameter
of CaCO3 deposit increased in the ionic method. Meanwhile in the particle method, the particle number increased, average particle
diameter decreased and particle aggregation of CaCO3 was observed. XRD measurement on all deposits showed that the crystal deposit was mostly of calcite and the traces of vaterite.
However, the amount of the crystal in the particle method was observed to be less than that in the ionic method, indicating
that CaCO3 deposit was more amorphous. Particle mechanism decreased the Ca2+ ion concentration in solution during magnetization, and ionic mechanism reduced scale (CaCO3) formation after magnetization and separation processes. This method could be applied for decreasing water hardness and prevent

The effects of both linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS) and zein protein concentrations on protein solubilization were investigated to better understand the influence of increasing concentration of the surfactant on protein denaturation and skin irritation. Different methods have been used for the determination of the amount of protein dissolved. A wide range of LAS concentrations and zein amounts were used. The results confirm that protein solubilization increases with LAS concentration increase and demonstrate that a minimum LAS/Zein ratio exists for all the zein to be dissolved. 相似文献

The aim of this experimental research was to study the electrochemical behavior of organic–inorganic hybrid (OIH) coatings for corrosion protection of hot-dip galvanized steel (HDGS) in the first instants of immersion in simulated concrete pore solution (SCPS) (pH > 12.5). The electrochemical performance of the OIH coatings was assessed by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, potentiodynamic polarization curves, macrocell current density, and polarization resistance. The OIH coatings were prepared via the sol–gel method and were deposited on HDGS surfaces by dip-coating using one or three dip steps. The electrochemical results obtained for HDGS samples coated with OIH matrices in SCPS showed higher corrosion resistance than bare HDGS; as the molecular weight (MW) of Jeffamine® increased the barrier protection of the coating decreased. The lowest protection efficiency was found for HDGS samples synthesized with oligopolymers with an MW of 2000. Coatings produced with an oligopolymer of 230 MW conferred the highest protection. The surface morphology of the OIH coatings deposited on HDGS surfaces was studied by atomic force microscopy. The results show that the roughness of the OIH films depends on the MW of Jeffamine® and on the number of dip-coating steps used. Thermogravimetry results show that the Jeffamine® MW affected the thermal properties of the prepared OIH samples. The prepared OIH materials are thermally stable within the range of 20–80°C. 相似文献
